We started out in a snowstorm trying to get safely to the Seattle airport at 3am. It was a harrowing ride, with cars spinning out and overturned in ditches all around us. We couldn’t believe how much traffic was on the road (or sliding off the road) in the middle of the night.
As passengers in the car, we were all very nervous, thinking this could be the most dangerous part of our several month world tour! As we got close to the airport we saw people who had abandoned their cars all together and were trying to WALK the rest of the way to the airport.
We were among the most fortunate motorists on the road that night because, It was just another day at the office for Brendan. As other motorists were in total states of crisis and competely out of control in trying to maneuver the ice slicked road, Brendan was driving calmly with one hand casually on the wheel. With the other hand he was having breakfast and a steaming mug of coffee. He managed to singlehandedly peel his own banana and take long blinding draws from his tall coffee canister. All while gliding in, out and around all the other vehicles as they spun helplessly in and out of our path.
