Day 45 (3/20/19)
Another day waking up in paradise. The mosquitos were the only thing that reminded us that sometimes paradise comes at a price. Each night we had battles with massive amounts of mosquitos. There was no way to keep them out of the house even with bug nets, or our bug repellent sleeping bag liners and copious amounts of bug spray; we continued to get eaten up each night. Taylor and I even had more than a dozen bites on our face and everybody had them all over their arms, legs, feet and hands.
Today we went to town and Mike had the idea to rent quads and explore the island. The majority of the island we had not seen, as the small town is only walkable. We rented the quads from Flying Pirates and set out to explore the two roads that Colon Island has. This was another beautiful day as we got to see the rest of the island and its beautiful beaches.

We drove by a plastic bottle village that recycled over a million plastic bottles to construct (check out their mission and idea behind it at: www.plasticbottlevillage-theline.com).

We also drove through beautiful arches of bamboo forest and saw gorgeous coastline.

We went to the end of the road on the northern end of the island and walked down what may be the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. What I loved it was where the jungle met the water and it had this natural, rugged, yet completely beautiful landscape. A lot of beautiful beaches that I have been to are well kept and manicured to keep it pretty, but this beach was so natural and completely stunning with its soft white sand and crystal blue waters.

Walking this beach was my personal favorite part of the day. As the day came to an end we made our way back to return our quads and found a restaurant on the water where we could see the spectacular full moon while we ate dinner.
