Today was my birthday and I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend it. I watched a beautiful sunrise over the water, and Mike and Kellee were very sweet and made some birthday brownies.

We took the 11am water taxi into town and headed to the dive shop. Taylor opted out of scuba diving and set out on her own to hang out in town while we were diving. We went over some book work at the dive shop and our instructor Lana was awesome. She made us feel comfortable and ready to go. Once we went over all the equipment, we got on the boat and went to our first dive spot.

I was nervous about feeling scared under the water about what might be swimming around me, but it was so cool because once I got down there I wasn’t scared at all. Everything was beautiful and there was so much to see it took away any nervous feelings right away. We all did fine with our ears and were able to progress to the second dive which was a sunken ferry boat. This was super cool and a great first day of diving experience.

We didn’t get back to the dive shop until after 6pm where Taylor was eagerly awaiting our return. We rinsed off and headed to a restaurant that was recommended. We had a great dinner and there was even live jazz music!

We found a water taxi to take us back to the house but realized everything looked a lot different in the dark…realizing we didn’t have the exact address of the water house and became slightly nervous. Luckily between the five of us, we were able to figure it out based on what we remembered from the landscape during the day and navigated the water taxi driver to the house. I think this was the second time on this trip I was reminded never leave the place you are staying without dropping a pin! Totally awesome day though and a birthday I will certainly never forget.
