Today we packed our stuff from hostel Mamallenas, and I went to greet my friends Mike and Kellee at the little airport in Bocas.

It was super exciting to have friends come and visit us on our journey. They got to town and we explored a little and got some groceries and supplies for the house we would be staying at for the week. The house was on the same island as the town of Bocas and you had to take a water taxi to get there. The grocery stores in Bocas are actually more like mini marts and had few options as far as cooking meals at home. I should say, the options were not what we were used to. The experience actually left us dreaming of a “Safeway” which we all thought was pretty funny that Safeway could be such an exciting and sought-after thing. We got ingredients for a spaghetti dinner and headed to the house on the water taxi.

The boat ride was about 20 minutes before we got to the beautiful house. It was hands down the nicest place we have stayed so far on the trip. It was 2-bedroom 2-bath and had a beautiful deck you could jump off right into the turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea! It was also right over a reef system with tons of fish and marine life. We spent the day snorkeling, swimming and just hanging out with each other. The spaghetti dinner left a lot to be desired as we learned Panamanian ‘spaghetti sauce’ is a bit different. It was a beautiful day though with good friends and family in a paradise setting.
