So for the last week or so we have heard everyone talk about climbing the volcano Acatenango. It is the best thing to do in Guatemala and even while other travelers are here. You go up in one day and camp at base camp where you can watch Fuego erupt with an up-close and personal view. You go to summit the next morning for sunrise. Many travelers had told us this was the best thing they had done in all of their travels. Our friends Josh, Kyra and 2nd Brendan were all going to Antigua to do the climb. Everyone had also told us it is extremely difficult. It is 13,000 feet and you climb 1600 meters in elevation very quickly. The three of us felt there was no way we were in good enough shape to do this, but the more people talked about it the more we felt like we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to climb it. You go with a guide and it is very inexpensive. We decide to take the challenge and climb with our friends the following day. We figured if we were not strong enough to make it, we could turn back and know we tried; if we were able to do it, we would get to see something amazing. So today we took as a rest day and walked around Antigua some. There is a huge market and it is a very nice city. We all went to a really good Middle Eastern dinner and went to bed early.

That’s hilarious about the McDonalds!
