We had a quite an adventure just getting on our bus today. The tuk tuk driver we had from yesterday was forty minutes late picking us up. He raced us to the bus station, and it must have been the first time in history a bus left on time because we pulled up five minutes late and it was already gone. A lady at the bus stop came and yelled something to our tuk tuk driver and motioned him in the direction the bus went. So now we were on the chase of our bus to Phnom Penh. We were driving a long time and occasionally our driver would look back and yell something in Khmer pointing to a bus. I am assuming he kept asking if that was the bus and we would say “we don’t know”. Then he would say something back in Khmer, and then we would again say “we don’t know”. There were literally hundreds of buses, mini buses, and shuttles around the city and it’s not like any of them are labeled where they go or have English writing on them. I was definitely having doubts we were going to find the bus, but the driver must have known a little more than we did because he eventually stopped. Brendan went up to a bus and asked if it was going to Phnom Penh and was then pointed to another little shuttle and apparently that was our bus! We got in and settled in for the six-hour ride.
We arrived in Phnom Penh and it seemed much nicer than Sihanoukville and that was a big relief. We got to our hostel and it was really nice, and the staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. We made arrangements to do a tour tomorrow and found some dinner.
