After a slightly better nights sleep in the tent we packed up camp and headed to the water taxi for San Pedro. We first stopped for a traditional Belizian “fry jack” which is a delicious fried dough pocket with whatever filling you want in it (I chose beans, cheese and eggs, and Brendan chose chicken and cheese while Taylor did a bacon and cheese one). They were filling and cheap ($2). We took another 45 minute water taxi ride north to San Pedro. We booked a cheap hotel room ($45 per night) for 2 nights that was right in the town center so we only had a few minute walk with our packs. This room was another hot room and was the dirtiest place we stayed. You didn’t really want to go into the shower. The positives were that it was close to town and had a mini fridge that was cold. It had a floor fan but was missing the protective cover so every time you walked by you had to be careful the blades didn’t get you. Not wanting to spend much time in the room we unloaded our stuff and went to town.

We walked around the town a bit, found some dinner and watched kids play in the park.

Called it an early night and went to bed in the hotel room in our insect repellent sleeping bag liners.
