Today, we drove the last 45 minutes or so and finally arrived in Cairns! That was a lot of ground we covered coming from Sydney (over 1500 miles). Brendan drove practically all of it since I only drove for a short time. We got to town and figured we would check out where we needed to go tomorrow for our dive excursion. To my complete surprise we even found free parking in Cairns and were able to check out the town. We also found where we could park overnight for free while we are on the boat. There is a nice promenade in town close to the marina. It is another town with a really nice lagoon area with huge swimming pools, BBQs, places to lay out etc. We spent the day walking around the promenade and at the lagoon. In the pool and laying out, we enjoyed a leisurely day. Cairns also has a night market and we walked around it before retreating to the car excited for the next day.
