Today our plan was to rent a car and start making our way north to Buenos Aires. We were going to take a few days for a road trip to do this and stop in El Chalten to see the famous Fitz Roy. However, our plans went awry when there were no rental cars available. We found one company who had a car that quoted us $3,000 USD to take it to Buenos Aires. This was of course out of the question, so we decided to get a car just for the day and drive to El Chalten (about 3 hours away) and return to El Calafate the next day, bringing back the car and getting on a bus to Buenos Aires. We had a beautiful sunshine day and the road to El Chalten was amazing.

We got there and drove through the little town which was another hub for hikers to explore this part of Patagonia.

We drove back out the road to watch the sunset behind Fitz Roy. We found a really nice hostel that felt more like a hotel as we had a private room with nice beds and bathroom. Brendan and I were tired and went to bed. Taylor went out to dinner with another friend we met on the W-trek that she ran into in the lobby.
Totally Amazing!!
Great blog. How in the world in Argentina is their a mountain with the name Fitz Roy?
Love to you both,
N
Thank you! Love you too! I’m not sure exactly on the name of the mountain but I did notice in Buenos Aires all of their streets were named after different famous people, cities, countries etc.
Feels like I’m right there with you! Thank you for sharing all these little entries! 🙂
Love you guys!
Glad your enjoying the posts! We love you too!
