Happy Birthday to Mom! We celebrated it real big for you by doing a glacier ice adventure. Taylor left early for her kayaking tour and Brendan and I left a little later on a bus that took us into the National Park.

Once we got there we were able to explore for a couple hours all the balconies and view points in front of the Punto Moreno glacier which was the size of Buenos Aires. It was very impressive and beautiful.

We had a gorgeous day and could see all the stunning shades of blue in the glacier ice and the lake in front of it. We had lunch and watched and listened to the glacier calve and drop large pieces of ice into the water. After our time at these view points, we took a bus to a boat launch where we boarded a boat that was going to take us to the glacier. Once we go to the land and our starting point, we were fitted with crampons and started our trek onto the ice following our guide.

It was really awesome walking around the ice and past crevasses and holes where you see all shades of blue. We were also able to fill our water bottles from the glacier ice water which was really good.

At the end of our time on the ice our guide used his ice pick to fill a bowl of ice from the glacier and served us an eight-year whiskey with 400-year-old ice!

After that, we went back to the boat and cruised back to where the buses were that took us to our hostel. This was a full day as we got back to the hostel around 8 pm. We met another couple on the ice trek that we went out to dinner with, along with our friend Aaron who had arrived in El Calafate that day. We went to a restaurant recommended by our guide and it was really good. Brendan got the biggest burger he has ever had, and we went back to the hostel with very full stomachs.

Remarkable Images!! What an Amazing Day you had for my big bday!! I can’t think of anything that exciting and wondrous, definitely the BEST Bday you ever had for me!!
