Today we got up and enjoyed the most amazing buffet breakfast that our room came with. I think we each made two trips and ate until we couldn’t anymore.

Feeling great after a good night’s sleep and big breakfast, we set out to explore the area in our rental car. We cruised through downtown San Jose observing the hustle and bustle of this busy city.

We found a road that took us out of the city and followed it up into the nearby mountains. The road became more and more windy and steep before turning into a dirt road. Without a plan or destination, we kept driving as the landscape was beautiful. It got really foggy as we continued driving up the mountain. At one point we were stuck behind some cows but were eventually able to pass. 😊

When we found out the road didn’t really go anywhere or connect to any other road, we eventually turned around and made our way back to San Jose. Was a nice way to see the area though and allow Taylor to rest her ankle as she sprained it badly on our last day in Panama. The hotel we were staying was attached to a casino. Taylor and I thought it would be fun to dress up (as much as we could, given the options we had in our backpacks) and go out to the casino. I wore my one dress and sandals that have also doubled as my water shoes on this trip. The 3 of us headed down and walked around the casino. The casino was actually much smaller than we thought and it took about 2 minutes before we saw it all.

Since none of us really wanted to risk losing any of our trip money gambling, we grabbed a drink at the bar and saw there was a Portland Blazers basketball game on TV. After that we went back to the room and ate any snacks we had as we let it get too late for dinner and went to sleep dreaming of breakfast the next morning.
