Today was our last full day in Pai. We had a real Zen day that ended with a little muddy adventure. Yesterday was our last time with our slow boat group. Today, everyone had dispersed except us and our friend Tiara from Singapore. We extended our motorbike rental for one more day and went to lunch at a pretty spot in the hills. It was a bit challenging to get there because of some muddy dirt roads. Tiara and her passenger got a little dirty dropping the bike in the mud.

We all made it though and had lunch with a nice view.

After that Brendan and I decided to go check out a cave. We started the drive there, but then realized we were almost out of fuel, and it was an hour away on a country road. I had no idea if there would be any fuel along the way. We also didn’t have the right shoes on to go caving. So, we decided it was better to turn around and not risk running out of gas.
We went back to town and met back up with Tiara to go for a Thai massage. This was Brendan’s first traditional Thai massage and luckily he liked it! After a peaceful lunch in a serene setting and then the massage, I was feeling super relaxed. We then got back on the bikes and went to a viewpoint. That was another very chill place with hardly anyone there and it had really nice views.

We hung out there for a while and had a soda before we decided to check out a lake spot for sunset. This is when our very relaxing day got a little adventurous. The roads to the lake became very bad and muddy. We rode for what felt like a very long time before we gave up and ended up turning around. Tiara had enough of driving in the super tricky conditions, and she got on the back with Brendan, and I drove the second bike back to town. By the end, we all had bare feet that were covered in mud. We had to take our flip flops off because the mud would suck them right off.

We got back to town with ourselves and the bikes being very dirty, but it was pretty fun. We cleaned up and went to the night market for dinner one last time. We had gyozas, a falafel with hummus pita that was filled with veggies and Brendan had fried chicken breast. We ended with desert of mango sticky rice. Totally full, we came back to the hotel and ended the night by hanging out on the patio with some of our Israeli neighbors.

That pic of you and B on the beanbag is really beautiful! Glad you made good decisions about when to turn back and not get stranded with no petrol!! Gyoza’s look great!
