Today we got a scooter and went beach hopping. First beach we hit was Leela Beach. It was very beautiful and quiet.

The next beach we hit was the most popular on the island and where the Full Moon Parties happen. Haad Rin Beach. This beach was actually only a few steps away from our hotel and very nice. I had read not to stay around the most touristy beach except during low season, and not around full moon I didn’t think it was overly crowded at all. It was a beautiful beach with super clear water, soft sand, and gentle waves which is my favorite kind of beach for swimming.

We laid, and played, and swam in the water for a while before heading to the next spot. This was probably my favorite island to rent a scooter aside from Cozumel which we visited years ago. This island was not too busy or had heavy traffic, and also big enough where there was plenty to explore. It was really hilly and very beautiful. We always seem to get in situations where we are pushing the scooter to its very max capacity, and we certainly were this time going up some of these hills. We passed some cool stuff and great views along the way.

After stopping for lunch, we checked out Had Yao Beach before getting to Salad Beach where we ended up staying for a while. We brought our sleeping pads to have as a float but because we had our valuables with us (wallet and passport – in Thai you are required to carry your passport and we have already been stopped on the scooter at check points so we just brought it to avoid any trouble) only one of us could swim at a time. The other one stayed on the beach with the stuff. Anytime I was in the water I felt too bad to leave B melting up on the beach, so I let him be in the water most of the time. The water is warm, and it is very hot outdoors. It only mildly cools you off while you are in it. The second you are out in the sun; it is super intense. We stayed until I was too hot to stand it and made our way back to the hotel to cool off in the AC room. We went back out for sunset and then to a little bar where Brendan found “a bucket”. The bartender let us use his laptop to pick the music so that was fun.
